Abstract

|
The pH effects of diethyl pyrocarbonate modification onthe inactivation of H51S mutant and H51 wild-type yeast alcohol dehydrogenase were compared to determine the pKas of histidine residues related to the enzyme activity. The pKa around 7 could be assigned to histidine -51 and pKa above 8.0 to histidine-67, on the basis of the results.
